Standard Baseline Tip
A tip of 15% to 20% is standard for food delivery. However, it's polite to tip a minimum of $3 to $5 per order, regardless of the subtotal, to account for the driver's time and gas.
Factor in Distance
If you're ordering from a restaurant that is located far away (5+ miles), consider adding $1 to $2 per extra mile to offset the driver's travel expenses and vehicle wear.
Adjust for Weather & Load
Heavy grocery orders or delivery during severe weather (rain, snow, extreme heat) require extra effort. Adding an extra $2 to $5 shows appreciation for their service in tough conditions.
